Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy (CCTA) Inclusion and Diversity Policy
Aims
Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy aims to teach with an atmosphere of kindness, respect and care for each other. In particular, we aim to treat every student and graduate equally, regardless of their age, disability, gender, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
Privacy Policy
I, Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy (CCTA), am committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.
Personal data is information which relates to a living individual who can be identified from that information.
The legal basis for collection and use of your personal data is to:
- Arrange and carry out services as agreed within your booking.
Explicit Approval
Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy (CCTA) gained your explicit approval to collect, hold and process your personal data as set out below on your booking form when you engaged our services.
How we will use your personal data
In our capacity as an Independent Celebrant training provider, we will use your personal data to the extent necessary to:
- Carry out your booking, including:
- Contacting you when necessary in relation to your booking
- Receiving payment
- Liaising with other relevant organisations/individuals (e.g. florist, venue, Funeral Director, etc.)
Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy (CCTA) has taken appropriate measures to safeguard personal data under our control against unauthorized access, unlawful or accidental destruction, or accidental loss.
Data Storage
Your personal data will be stored electronically and password protected. Any documentation in hard copy will be stored in a locked cupboard.
Data Retention Policy
Your data will be retained while your booking is being arranged and after the event has taken place. Thereafter, unless otherwise agreed, Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy (CCTA) may continue to hold some of your personal data for a further period of five years to ensure compliance with Company Law and HMRC Statutory VAT reporting requirements. Where there is no requirement to continue to hold your personal data, CCTA will destroy it.
Right of Access
You have the right to obtain confirmation that your personal data is being processed by Celebrant Coaching and Training Academy (CCTA), and what personal data is held.
You may make your request at any time and by any reasonable means (letter, telephone, email), although it is preferred that you make contact in writing, detailing the precise nature of your request so that there can be no misunderstanding.
Further information is available from the Information Commissioner’s Office website on how to make a request:

Within seven days of receiving your request, CCTA will send you a written acknowledgement noting when you can expect to receive a response.
Within 30 days of your request, CCTA will provide you with the information that is held in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format except where it has been agreed that this would not be possible, or that it would involve undue expense, in which case the information may be made available to you to view on a screen.

Accessibility
All our training and events are conducted using technology that makes it accessible to people with mobility challenges or considerations. It allows those who prefer not to be in a group to receive one-to-one tuition at their own pace.
Diversity
We encourage those from mixed-faith or mixed-cultural backgrounds to take our training programmes. Independent Celebrants are not the same as Humanist Celebrants and we understand your beliefs are your beliefs and we honour and respect that by including them in your ceremonies. At the CCTA we do not train Humanist Celebrants as we choose to embrace diversity for all, not only those who think like we do.
We encourage all students to use their pronouns on their Zoom, emails, marketing materials and website. We support this approach as a way of demonstrating allyship to the LGBTQIA+ community. We reserve the right to decline to work with anyone who expresses a transphobic response to this request.
Before undertaking our six-week wedding celebrant training, we expect every student (from January 2024) to complete the GIRES online training workshop. This will be paid for by the Academy as part of our commitment to supporting their work.
Inclusion and respect
Every student and graduate should be made to feel equally welcome and included.
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise offensive and inflammatory remarks and behaviour are not acceptable. These constitute harassment and have no place in Celebrancy.
Dealing with discrimination and harassment
If any student, graduate or tutor feels they have been discriminated against by the Academy or harassed at an Academy event they should raise this with Dinah Liversidge or Hannah Liversidge.
The person you choose to report it to will investigate the complaint, listening to all persons involved. (If the complaint is against a staff member, that member will not be part of conducting the investigation).
If the complaint is against a particular individual, this person will have the opportunity to express their point of view, accompanied by a colleague. The person making the complaint will also have this opportunity.
If the complaint is against the Academy as a whole, then Dinah Liversidge must work to ensure that such discrimination is not repeated in the future and must inform the complainant of how they propose to do this.
Any decision to exclude a person from the Academy due to discriminatory or harassing behaviour will be made with reference to this policy. The Academy will support people who feel they have been harassed or discriminated against and will not victimise or treat them less well because they have raised this.
This policy came into force on 01-01-2024 in its current form. We are constantly updating the policy and are always open to discussion on how it can be improved.
